They say its writing, But its waiting.Posted by Emma S. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 7:34:10 AMThis has been flying around my head. NOt a poem of any type, but it feels like something I would have read in a college class or something. But it truely is for trying to make it as a writer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I heard from many people, "Oh your a writer, writings the hard part, once you've written it down, Your good to go!" WOW Was that ever wrong. Once I wrote it down, I just moved right on to part two. There was no break in my book storyline, or in my typing. BUT Waiting to hear beack from agents Thats the hard part. Knowing that both my editors loved it, and people have been asking, so When is it coming out? Thats the hard part. Having a character that you created and enjoy, sit on a shelf in your office. Thats the hard part. Does anyone have any hints or just advice. I know I am supposed to wait a predesignated amount of time before I contact the agencies asking if they have an answer, but the waiting.... Thats the hard part. I've already started on book two. I have book one edited and refined after my ditors read through it. I only sent the book to agents who were taking on books of my genre. So far I've only heard back from two, and they both replied within the first two weeks, "no new authors" Rejection was not even that bad. Waiting for the rest of my replies.. Thats the hard part. I havent heard back from the smaller agencies that WERE taking new authors. I am trying not to get my hopes up on anything yet, but waiting... Thats the hard part. I did not choose to be a writer. Writing comes easy. I am not however, a waiter and Thats the hard part. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the seroius note, Are there any other authors who use agents on here? For fiction not poetry. That have any advice for the waiting game, how to moce forward when you do get a good response? Should I try a new batch of agents before my first set of letters get responses, or would that muddle up things if I get picked up by one, and then another? I just know that in its genre, it is a good story. One of my editors HATES reading this style, and she loved it and can't wait to read the second. So I know the story and characters flow well. But waiting for a complete stranger to decide that they know it as well... Stinks hahaha Emma S. [ View Thread on Community | Post a Reply or Comment | Sign-Up For an Account ] Comments & Replies |
