Challenges And Challenges To Come.

The challenges in life are always demanding and yes it is rough anyone who says they have it made or it is easy is very wrong. I personally have and still am enduring a life challenge right now.
I have been in college for over 2 years and three months, I'm currently in Game Art And Design, mainly developing video games for systems, but this is all changing to quick for me, because over the few years of me loving my passion for games became hurtful and stressful.
I had to do a portfolio review, a review for game developers in college is really too see all the best work the student has completed for the years in college, so I for two and half weeks worked my tail off on finding what the best of the best I had, so I put together everything I had and to be honest most of is all basic stuff, because I only took basic classes.
I start the game art program in 2005 my fourth quarter, because my other 3 quarters were basic classes surrounding the basic essentials, so in my fourth quarter I left Graphic Design for Game Art And Design.
Well to make a long story short I had gone to this review to find out that everything I had brought to these two instructors / use to be game developers had torn me apart limb from limb, because in there eyes my worked was horrible, but they really went after my art ability. I had explained to them my art is terrible right now, because I am more compatible with computers and software than drawing on paper.
During the review the instructors had told me that if I was ever hired in the industry that they would see to it that I be fired due to my lack of art skills and if they were producers and saw my application come they would throw it away.
Well you can see where this is going, because there is a ton more, but to really hit the main point is that I felt my life slip for an instance, but when I was asked do I still have my passion, I told them my passion for gaming is gone and more.
Overall I have learned allot of new respects for myself even though they can be stressful, because after college I wanted to get a career not a normal everyday job, but I had looked into a few different career chances like Corrections Recruit, Police Recruit, Fire Fighter, and United States Marine.
I know the last one seems harsh, but my only hope lays within the 3 others and if those don't work out, I know for a fact the Military will work out for me. All my time spent in college felt like a waste of time, but it wasn't, I learned that millions of students such as myself around the world also leave college everyday and do something else or they do graduate from college and don't even come close to actually working in the field that they received there degree for.
What I'm saying is that I have possible overcome the biggest obstacle of my own life which is seeing myself for myself, I know life has many challenges, but we all and I'm not just saying myself that we all have big obstacles to overcome each day and we all need to stay positive all the time regardless of the situation or situations we may come across.
Just a something I want to say and it is a quote that I decided to keep with me for the rest of my life, the quote is :Don't chase the money, let the money chase you down". What I mean by this quote is that there is no easy way out or short cuts to home bases for quick and easy cash.
Chasing a dream is really chasing your passion, desire, will power, and more, but by chasing a dream that really isn't yours and its just for the money will only cause you to hate your career or become stressed out. Yet if you chase your real dream, the money may not come now, but it will come eventually.
See the truth is mainly finding what you really love and once you found that love, passion, desire, and more you will see the love in the career and you will not want to quit or leave the career, because you like it and it makes you happy.

Great read here, I can relate to you my friend, but when someone says you don't have what it takes, just smile at them politely and give them a hand shake, because you do have what it takes and your opportunities in the world are endless don't ever forget that. Follow a dream my friend and stick to it because it will be your reality someday.
All My Best!

First, I am sorry to hear of your experience and I must add - these persons should not be instructing or in a position to critique work if they possess this kind of manner.
You will find your nature, your gifts and your life dreams, they will show up inspite of others and their opinions - as they say opinions are like ... everyone has one.
In my experience I have found that everyone has a voice and there are those who hear it and love it, and those who hear it and hate it. What matters is that we keep using our voice until "we" choose to change it. You will find many diversions and detours in life. Take them, and become the best YOU, you can become. Set only in front of you the challenges you wish to hurtle and let others swallow their own indifference, lack of self and hurtful natures.
Keep on working, no-one of consequence said, you can't be a designer, just keep working at it, the only one who can challenge YOU is YOU!
