I would like to see through some very good networking here, Mentors rise up to  make this a part of our group.  Mentors are needed for these very fine people that gather here and could even inspire more!

I started a group on myspace with the same thoughts.    That people who are all in similar jobs, written words, would come together and could supoport each other, and maybe help out newcomers to the proffesion.    It didnt really take off like I wanted it to. but I am hopeful that one day I will be able to help just one person so I keep it

On here though it would be great to see a mentor program.  not so much, This one person helps this one person, but just a proffessional to maybe answer questions or give advice, gentle nudges in the right direction.

so how do we get this off the ground?

Should we name our areas of knowledge? Who will keep track? lol

I'll start off:
My strength lies in writing--not poetry (sorry) but prose. I can edit, and I'll volunteer to mentor one person at a time.
I'm willing to be a sounding board and editor, but it will have to be strictly scheduled due to current demands on my time.
I've been a writer for two college newspapers, been editor of a writer's newsletter, am currently studying to be an English teacher, and am writing a book.

I'm also knowledgeable about guns. I'm not an expert, but I know who to ask if I don't know the answer. (I figure this could be helpful for research purposes.)  I manage a gun shop, am a state certified handgun safety instructor, and will be getting my firearms instructor license this year.  That said, I am not an expert--I haven't been in the business long enough for that--but I do have a broad range of knowledge.
