Pray for Dad this week
Dad has had his first IV chemo this week, it was on Monday, and he seems to have tolerated it well. I would ask you each to please lift him up in your prayers this week, as he seems to be a little anxious about what the future holds for him and this disease. Dad is such a believer in the Lord, and he knows that it is all in God's hands, and although he tells me he's really trying not to "think about things..its really hard to do anything with your mind". He very well knows what this pancreatic cancer is like, its stubburn nature and the absolute undeniable return rate and this seems to be like a dark cloud over him this week. I feel so far away from him now, since he is taking the treatments up in West Virginia and all I can do here, is to pray, ask everyone else to do the same, and call him each day and offer words of encouragment. I think everyone has his address to send him cards or words of cheer...if not..here it is again..Paul THompson, Rt 1 Box 1590, Wayne, WV 25570. I know they would surely lift him. Thats all for now. You guys be blessed this weekend, and I'll update next week after he takes round 2. Have a great weekend.

Hey there,
I have followed your dad's story and all of the posts from the beginning. As I re-read them I can see amazing things God is doing. I will continue to pray for your mom and dad and the rest of the family that all his needs are met and for total healing.
God bless you,
Jen

You are all very much in my thoughts as always. I'll be sharing every beautiful sunset and making my wishes for you and yours to stay strong and believe.
My love to your remarkable father, you and the rest of the family that I know he is so proud to call his own.
Be blessed,
Pedx

Dad is doing great, but he is so incredibly touched and feels so blessed that he has been allowed to live thru all of this, he is just brought to tears talking about it...I can hear in his voice, him trying to not tear up..but he just can not praise the Lord enough..he laughs, he cries..he's such a mix of overwhelming emotion...it is no doubt the most humbling, honest witness to our Lord that you might ever witness.
He came home after getting his shot to build his white blood count and had ate and gone to bed. He had to get one of those shots today and yesterday. I think this is normal with chemo tho... but the point is, he might be home all evening. He's not been going too much as he doesn't want to get sick.
He just didn't know what to think, or how to comprehend your reaching out...and he went on to tell me about how he knows that the Lord works that way..we talked about how you had been this presence sent to our family..to do nothing more than just walk right beside us thru this journey, and say I'm here if you need me, I'm here, I'm just here if you need me. I know I am so thankful for that companionship or hand of support you have offered as well as dad.
Anyway, just wanted you to know that and I hope you have a fabulous weekend. I work all weekend Smiley fun fun. Take care, talk soon. Be blessed
Hugs, Sherry

Truly Thanksgiving : Update on Dad

Post Thanksgiving Greetings everyone.
I wanted to take a few moments to drop a note to everyone who has been praying and continues to lift Dad up each day. He continues to just amaze us all. He has 4 of his 12 IV chemo treatments behind him and
do you know what is absolutely amazing
??
He has not been sick ONE single time!!!!
I know he is definitely the first person I have ever watched go thru chemo and being doing as great as he has. He comes home from his treatments, and goes outside and 'works'. He just had that one week where they had to give him shots to bring his white blood count up..but other than that..he is doing awesome.
I share all this with you, because as most of you know, statistically, pancreatic cancer is so often an immediate death sentence. If you know of anyone now, or in the future with this disease, I am telling you there is hope and I would encourage you to never lose faith. Dad is a baptist preacher in a little church up home, and he has continued to be faithful, minister thru his illness and has remained hopeful and positive. I give so much of the credit to you guys here, and especially to Jeremy, who was once a total stranger to my dad, has called him and our family on a regular basis just to check on him. How awesome is that!! Someone, we did not know..who has no reason to reach out and offer their support..has taken the time to not only reach out, but to what dad and I describe as 'walking beside us the whole journey and just to say, i'm here if you need me". It is has been the kindest act of compassion and selflessness I have ever been shown and I know I am also speaking for dad too. So to Jeremey, and to everyone here who has sent prayers, notes and cards..Thank you. Dad is trying to write something personal, that we can share here, but until he does that..I want you to know..He is doing great and please continue to pray that he is blessed to continue his treatment in the same fashion.
Also, the family was able to help him get about 1/3 of the roof re-shingled over the Thanksgiving holiday. They ended up with some snow in West Virginia, so it slowed down progress, but none-the-less that job got started and hopefully, they can all come together once more before the weather gets too bad.
Again, Thank you all. Have a wonderful Holiday season as it is now upon us and God Bless you and your families for a safe, healthy and blessed season to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas.
