The American Health Assistance Foundation seeks to eradicate age-related and degenerative diseases by: facilitating research seeking causes, treatment and cures; promoting behavioral patterns in the public to combat Alzheimer’s disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration; and educating the public about these diseases.
Research
AHAF is one of America's leading supporters of scientific and medical investigations into Alzheimer's disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Founded in 1973, AHAF has since awarded more than $82 million in research grants to some of the most prominent scientists working at universities, hospitals and medical centers around the world.

AHAF is currently supporting a total of 103 research grants: 44 projects funded through Alzheimer's Disease Research; 29 through National Glaucoma Research; 3 through the National Heart Foundation; and 27 through Macular Degeneration Research.
Education
In addition to the critical need for research, AHAF is dedicated to a proactive program to educate the public about the dangers of these diseases and the steps that can be taken to reduce an individual’s risk of becoming a victim. Through its public education program, AHAF also strives to provide important information and resources to patients, caregivers and loved ones on ways to cope with age-related diseases.

Community Outreach: AHAF works with community organizations at the grassroots level to distribute information and material. AHAF also exhibits at national conferences and meetings to promote awareness of these diseases, and has sponsored conferences on Alzheimer's disease.
Publications: AHAF offers a variety of educational materials to help patients and their families understand and cope with age-related diseases.
