Nach einem Spanischen Sprichwort

Oh Milde, mitleidsvolle Guete,
Oh selbstlose Barmherzigkeit,
So niedrig, klein war nie ein Mensch,
Du wurgst, geruehrt zu Traenen:

Die Glaettheit reinen Mitgefuehls,
Gutmenschtum, huld- und demutsschwer
das Freundschaft jenem andient, der
allein um deine  Liebe suchte.

Oh suess gesprochnes, sanftes Wort
Oh zarte Hand, die schmackhaft' Brot,
noch ofenwarm, an Lippen fuehret,
die schwarzverbran nt von Durste sind.

(Takes more liberties with the rhythm, but seems to capture the mood slightly better).
