Beat Poets - Irish RockersBy June 2005 the band received airplay in UK, America, Canada and Australia. In August 2005 the band won Xfm (London) Unsigned competition and received major press interest.Relentless gigging across the Ireland and the UK began on the 2nd June 2005 in The Cavern Club (Liverpool) and has seen the poets play nearly 100 shows in venues such as The Spring and Airbrake (Belfast), Temple Bar Music Centre & Whelans (Dublin) and the Metro Club(London). In August 2005 the band were chosen by Today FM as one of 5 top rising bands in the country, from this the band supported 'The Chemical Brothers' and 'Sonic Youth' in Marlay Park Dublin as part of the 'Bud Rising Festival'. The same month saw 'Staring Stars Down' and 'Bloodline' licensed to two new sports programmes for UK television station 'Channel 4' and extreme sports giants 'O'Neill' for use in their global advertisement campaigns in the winter season. Performing at the Buzz Magazine entertainment awards in September 2005, Hot Press further picked the band to support 'The Revs' on their recent tour. By October the band was picked for the 'SONI (Sounds of N.Ireland)' compilation CD released by Music Best Records. November 2005 saw the band support number 1 Irish album-selling artists 'The Walls' and headline at the 'Imagine Arts Festival' in Waterford. Releasing several more radio only tracks ('Race' and 'G.I') in December 2005 cemented major industry interest on both sides of the Atlantic. Entering 2006 'The Beat Poets' were hailed by Hot Press Magazine as one of 25 new worldwide acts set to people raving in 2006. Supporting Nine Black Alps in February they were also invited to do several events at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas. Since March 2006 the band has received airplay on Xfm (Scotland) and Triple J (Australia) as well as being added to the A-play list of Virgin Radio XTREME in May 2006 after winning the Unsigned Face Off competition for 3 straight weeks. The band also supported Mercury recording artists Red Organ Serpent Sound. Over the summer of 2006 the band recorded and showcased their ability in London and in October 2006 they completed their first UK/Irish tour to rousing acclaim! Which included headlining at the prestigious HWCH 2006. In December 2006 the band released their debut double A side single 'Turn It On' and 'Shadowlands' (via Indie label Pronoia Records) in Ireland and the UK, coinciding with a second UK tour. Nationwide press and radio has hailed the group as one of the most exciting Irish bands in years! With the complete nationwide airplay in Ireland and the UK as well as the 'Turn It On' video commissioned for TOPSHOP TV and lined up for various other channels the poets whirlwind is picking up speed. Little over 1 year old and with a steadily growing base of loyal followers 'The Beat Poets' have had a baptism of fire...imagine....this is still only the beginning....
